WiSeMote is a real-time location service (RTLS) tag family with unique benefits brought about by being the first of its kind to be offered by the same company that owns the active Wi-Fi technology it is built upon, according to its manufacturer, Redpine Signals. As such, its inherent energy efficiency and reliability are backed by IP protection and strategic roadmap alignment with future generations of RTLS.
The WM1-20-RPX works with the Redpine RTLS Network, which offers high accuracy without disturbing existing wireless infrastructure. It supports multiple modes of operation, among which the user can choose based on the RF environment and use case. It works in TDoA, RSSI and TDOA+RSS modes.
In addition to location, the tag provides telemetry information (battery life, motion and emergency). It has an emergency button which can be used to configure system alarms and notifications. Since it runs on battery power, energy consumption can be further optimised by configuring for less frequent beaconing while at rest compared to when in motion.
For applications that require interoperability with third-party hardware and software RTLS infrastructure, the WM1-20 and WM1-50 are available, operating in the 2,4 GHz and 2,4 / 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands, respectively.
All three tags offer CCX (Cisco-compatible extensions)-compliant beaconing with telemetry and alarm notifications. In non-CCX beaconing mode, they can be used to locate and identify assets by running simple tag identification software on standard Wi-Fi clients. In Wi-Fi associated mode, they periodically connect to access points and communicate sensor and channel data to a server.
