Embedded 3G modules

4 February 2015 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

Telit Wireless Solutions announced the introduction of the company’s smallest 3G-only cellular module, the UE866. The product incorporates powerful and reliable firmware and is designed for pin-to-pin compatibility with the GE866 for seamless migration from 2G to 3G. Built on cutting-edge technology, the module provides long-term availability in an ultra-compact form factor, ideal for telematics applications.

Also new is the latest addition to the xE910 family, the 3G-only UE910, which incorporates an optional embedded SIM for applications requiring rugged reliability. The xE910 Unified Form Factor family is comprised of pin-to-pin compatible modules in Telit’s broadest range of cellular air interfaces and band combinations.

The UE910 module’s optional embedded SIM can be pre-provisioned with Telit’s m2mAIR Mobile connectivity and value-added services. Moreover, both new modules are m2mAIR Cloud-ready to allow adopters immediate access to the m2mAIR Cloud application enablement platform, powered by deviceWISE.

The embedded Python script interpreter on both new modules allows the processing core in the cellular engine to run customer applications which can, among other things, access a companion Telit GNSS module directly for a complete ultra-miniature tracking device.

The UE866 is ideal for the battery-powered wearable technology segment because of its low power consumption, size and GPIOs. With the new products, Telit is also targeting the smart metering, mobile POS terminal, mobile health, alarm panel and telematics application areas.

The click-to-cloud simplicity of cloud-ready Telit modules and the m2mAIR Cloud service are available for free trial.
