Low-power RS-485 transceiver

27 January 2016 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

New from Exar is the XR33202, a half-duplex, 20 Mbps RS-485 (TIA/EIA-485) transceiver optimised to operate over a wide 3 V to 5,5 V supply voltage range.

It includes an adjustable low-voltage logic interface and features standby current of only 3 μA (maximum), 0,05 μA (typical).

The device exceeds the highest ESD rating of IEC 61000-4-2 Level 4. It also includes protection features such as hot swap glitch, overload and enhanced receiver fail-safe for open, shorted or terminated idle data lines. Specified over an extended temperature range of -40°C to 125°C, the XR33202 is offered in a RoHS compliant, halogen free, space saving 3 x 3 mm DFN package.
