Access Control & Identity Management
u-blox has introduced a free software upgrade for all the company's TIM GPS receivers. This upgrade adds datalogging functionality to standard TIM GPS macro-components. It enables u-blox customers to benefit from additional functionality without hardware changes. The integrated datalogger stores up to 100 000 data records into internal Flash.
The software is available as a free download and can be downloaded to all TIM GPS receivers by using the TIM firmware update tool, available on the Web. The datalogging firmware is fully compatible with the standard firmware. Data records stored on Flash contain: position, velocity, time and receiver status. Additionally the datalogger can be configured to independently log the states of up to four digital general purpose I/Os (GPIO) of the receiver.
The datalogger is controlled via the serial port of the GPS receiver. User-defineable filter parameters allow full control over logging frequency and distance between logging.
With the integrated datalogger functionality u-blox adds value to the standard TIM GPS receiver. This simplifies system design for tracking and fleet-management applications and hence reduces costs and speeds up design cycles.
