Ampro Computers has announced that Wind River Systems has certified its VxWorks 5.5 realtime operating system (RTOS) for use with its PowerPC-based EnCore PP1 module. The EnCore PP1 features Motorola's 300 MHz MPC8245 integrated host processor with a fast 66 MHz PCI bus interface, SDRAM memory and additional I/O on a small form-factor circuit board assembly.
Achieving certification is the strongest indication of this popular operating system running properly on commercial hardware. Ampro adds that its customers in medical, military and aerospace/defence, industrial control, transportation, and instrumentation market segments save valuable time and get new products to market faster by using reliable hardware and software which are tested extensively together.
