Pentium-based SBC with VGA/LAN

4 June 2003 Computer/Embedded Technology

The MIC-3355, available from ProMicro, is a 6U CompactPCI Pentium-based single board computer with all the functions of an industrial computer on a single board with the rugged Eurocard form factor. Supporting socket-seven processors, the SBC has two DIMM sockets for supporting up to 256MB SDRAM as well as onboard 10/100Base-TX Fast Ethernet with anRJ-45 connector.

Designed for use in mission critical applications, the SBC accepts onboard IDE Flash disk for diskless operation. A watchdog timer can automatically reset the system or generate an interrupt if the system stops due to a software bug or EMI.

The SBC features an onboard high-performance VGA display, one fast Ethernet interface, two serial ports, two USB ports, one parallel port, one PS/2 keyboard connector and one PS/2 mouse connector. All I/O connectors, reset button and LEDs for Ethernet, HDD and power status are on the front panel.

A built-in high-speed PCI IDE controller provides two separate IDE channels with PIO Mode 4 and Ultra DMA/33 modes. Users can connect up to four IDE devices and two FDDs to the backplane via the user-defined J3 connector on the MIC 3355. The primary IDE channel is also available via an onboard connector.
