Rabbit Semiconductor offers the newest version of its integrated development software, Dynamic C v.8.01. This version includes all the capabilities of previous versions, plus several new features and key functional enhancements.
Dynamic C v.8 introduces a large set of new editor features to facilitate program writing. These include syntax highlighting, configurable code templates, column selection mode, bookmarks, and parenthesis and curly brace matching. Editor keyboard shortcuts can be mapped to emulate several popular editors. A grep feature with an easy-to-use GUI has been added to do string searches on multiple files. Unix style regular expressions are supported by both the grep feature and the standard search and replace dialogue boxes.
The Dynamic C GUI is more user-friendly by allowing the tool bar to be configured to include buttons for any or all menu commands. Several improvements have been made to debugging windows including the ability to display multiple hex dumps, C source line visibility in the disassembly window, and a much easier to use watch window interface. Debugging windows can be configured using the right mouse button.
Other GUI improvements include the addition of fly-over watch expressions to evaluate variables in pop-up boxes when the cursor is held over the variable name, and a Rabbit processor internal I/O register reference on the help menu with descriptions of I/O registers organised by peripheral.
Dynamic C v.8 compiler improvements include list file generation to show complete compiler machine code output, compile-time compression of imported files which can be decompressed at run-time with library functions that are provided, and in-lining of internal I/O functions.
TCP/IP stack improvements include HTTP Digest Authentication to allow encrypted password transmission, multiple user access to Web pages, and run-time decompression by the HTTP server of compressed imported files.
Dynamic C v.8, like previous versions, is an integrated C compiler, editor, loader, and debugger created specifically for Rabbit Semiconductor products. It is designed to eliminate the need for expensive in-circuit emulators. While a program runs on a controller, the user can debug from Dynamic C without in-circuit emulators, logic analysers, or software simulators.
