Inverse multiplexing ATM device family

IDT has introduced a new family of inverse multiplexing ATM (IMA) devices. These devices are primarily used in systems that process ATM traffic and require external connections over T1/E1 or xDSL links for compatibility with existing networks. The new IMA device family offers unique functionality for remote equipment, such as mobile base stations and DSL multiplexers. It allows remote configuration of up to eight IMA groups, eliminating the need for local-side configuration and management at remote sites. In addition, the IMA family offers an advanced user interface. This family includes the 16 channel 82V2616 and the 8 channel 82V2608, and is the first extension of the IDT transport family of T1/E1 devices to include ATM multiplexing. The user interface includes an embedded controller that allows configuration and operation through an API abstraction layer, eliminating the need for complex direct register accesses. IMA family also provides a link backup feature to maintain quality of service and also includes an advanced cell buffer management feature.
