Industrial panel computer series

28 January 2004 Computer/Embedded Technology

Advantech's IPPC Series is specially designed for the confined spaces typical of industrial applications. With various CPU processor options and panel sizes, the IPPC Series offers flexibility, capable of meeting the needs of specific industrial field deployments.

The company's IPPC Series is equipped with high power processors ranging from Intel Celeron to Pentium 4 and display sizes of 12", 15" to 17". They feature versatile installation options for panel, wall, rack and desktop mounting, industrial grade front panels, and sturdy stainless/aluminium housings, which make these products right at home in the harshest industrial environments. Applications include food processing, pharmaceutical, chemical and petrochemical, automobile and semiconductor.

Unique application features are that they are suited for high vibration and the 10 mm thick aluminium or 4 mm thick stainless steel front panel is perfect for dusty, oily, corrosive environments. Traditional or commercial plastic computer housings cannot survive vibration, shock or sunlight.

IPPC can be upgraded from the Celeron to Pentium III 850 MHz and an optional 1 GHz model is available. Special downward I/O port designs support up to four com ports, two USB, LAN, parallel, etc. This saves budget from purchasing additional cards. Compared to none or just one expansion slot backplane, IPPC provides two PCI/ISA slots for the user to build in digital, analog, motion, vision or communication cards.
