Zero-drift amp for portable instrumentation cuts power

Linear Technology claims its LTC2054 and LTC2054HV are the industry's lowest power zero-drift amplifiers, rated at 175 µA maximum supply current. The devices offer a 2,5 times reduction in power consumption over existing low power zero-drift amplifiers, making it suited for use in portable applications such as medical instrumentation, handheld test equipment, electronic scales, and other battery-powered instruments, it says. Housed in a miniature SOT-23 package the low input offset voltage of 0,5 µV and offset drift of only 30 nV/°C combined with 600 fA bias current and 2 pA offset current. This improves total system precision without the need for additional external components or post assembly trim. Rated over the industrial temperature range, the LTC2054 is operational from 2,7 V to 6 V and the LTC2054HV operates from 2,7 V to 11 V, accommodating ±5 V designs.
