Multifunctional DAQ cards for the PCI bus

25 October 2000 Computer/Embedded Technology

Advantech has introduced two new multifunctional PC add-on cards for a PCI bus. The PCI-1710 and 1710HG provide the five most desired measurement and control requirements, including 100K samples, 12-bit A/D conversion, D/A conversion, digital input, digital output and counter/timer functions. With complete function and rich software support, these two cards are ideal for laboratory and factory automation. Both cards are CE marked to CISPR 22 class B.

The PCI-1710/1710HG feature an automatic channel/gain scanning circuit design which allows the user to perform multichannel, high-speed sampling (up to 100 kHz) with different gains for each channel. It also allows free combination of single-ended (16 channels max) and differential inputs (eight channels max.).

The PCI-1710 provides gains of 1, 2, 4 and 8 while the PCI-1710HG provides gains of 0,5, 1, 5, 10, 50, 100, 500 and 1000 for reading very low level input signals. The onboard FIFO (first in, first out) buffer can store up to 4000 A/D samples to ensure seamless data transfer under Windows.

Additional features include two 12-bit analog output channels, 16 digital output and 16 digital input channels. Also provided is a 16-bit event counter for counting events coming from the input channels and a 32-bit timer for generating a pacer trigger for the A/D conversion.
