With the MSM855 Digital-Logic has introduced a Pentium M computer board in PC/104plus format. The compact module uses the company's smartModule855 Pentium M processor with clock rates of 0,6 GHz to 1,6 GHz. Equipped with a 1 MB L2 cache the 1,6 GHz Pentium M shows a capability comparable with a 2,4 GHz Pentium 4 processor, according to the maker.
The PC/104plus computer is based on the Intel 855GME chipset with 400 MHz front side bus and provides all standard PC interfaces such as COM1/2, LPT1, a floppy interface, an IrDA interface, and two PS/2 ports for mouse and keyboard. There are up to 1024 MB of DDR RAM as main memory on the module available. CPU and memory are mounted exchangeable, but mechanically protected against vibrations and shocks.
The standard version further includes six USB ports, an AC97 V2.3 compatible sound interface, a 100/10Base-T port (RJ45), and interfaces for a CompactFlash card and an IDE hard disk. In addition, all necessary power supplies and a PIC 17C871 controller for advanced ACPI power management functions are integrated. For multimedia applications, the PC/104plus board provides a real 5.1 sound system with six output channels and two input channels. The video memory is up to 64 MB and the video controller has two different video outputs, VGA-Analog and DVO/LVDS, to control two different monitors.
