Robust terminal PC with side buttons

25 August 2004 Computer/Embedded Technology

The TRM 5015 terminal PC with touchscreen LCD display and side buttons is new in the Phoenix Contact product range. Its cast aluminium housing also makes the terminal PC suitable for use in harsh industrial environments.

There are five buttons located below the LCD display. These provide access to the software keyboard or are used to switch tasks, click the right mouse button, or adjust the brightness. The control elements, such as buttons, lamps or key switches, are housed in additional housings on the side. The control elements are interrogated from the Terminal PC and are available both under Windows and directly in the Interbus fieldbus system. The quick reaction times provided by the buttons connected with Interbus allow for more rapid and precise operation and set-up of machinery.

The NetCap remote control software, suited to industrial use, enables remote operation from other computers. Sensitive hardware, such as a server, can be housed wherever operation is not impeded by harsh environmental conditions. Terminal PCs can also be supplied with embedded operating systems on request. Since the PCs operate without using hard disk drives, they are also suited to use in vibration environments.
