Bluetooth chip guarantees interoperability

8 September 2004 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

The STLC2410 Baseband chip from STMicroelectronics, together with the STLC2150 single chip radio, assures a state-of-the-art Bluetooth connection to any other Bluetooth qualified product.

The STLC2410 is built around the Ericsson Bluetooth Core and an ARM7TDMI microcontroller. The EBC implements all the low layer functions of the Bluetooth protocol. All program extensions are supported through the external bus. The microcontroller allows the support of all data modes of Bluetooth in addition to voice.

The device can run Bluetooth protocol stack and application layers if required. The software is located in an external memory accessed through the external memory interface. For cost optimised implementation the software can be embedded in a ROM-chip version. All software up to the HCI layer interface is included as standard.

Upper layer software stacks as well as dedicated profiles and protocols are supported by this generic STLC2410 Baseband. The upper layer software files can be supplied by STMicroelectronics or one of its software partners. With its powerful microcontroller, optimised RAM size and external Flash support, this product can support full embedded Bluetooth applications such as HID devices (keyboard, mouse, etc). It is suitable for multiple applications like PC, laptop, computer peripherals and consumer products.

A mini-kit can be supplied for ease of software design and product evaluation.
