Rittal offers a space-saving monitor/keyboard drawer occupying just 1U of installation space. Features include: a separate numerical keypad, a touchpad installed to the side of the wrist rest, a choice of 15" or 17" TFT displays, and support for the emerging digital visual interface (DVI) standard.
The TFT display is available with a 15" or 17" screen, which together with the keyboard, can be folded down to a height of just 1U. It slides into the rack as a drawer and can be locked for protection against unauthorised access. To ensure that the cables cannot be caught or damaged when the drawer is opened and closed, Rittal devised fold-away hinges. The monitor is also automatically switched off when folded down.
Since administrators often need to enter long series of numbers at certain times, eg, for ASCII values, a separate numerical keypad, like that of a conventional PC keyboard is included. The touchpad mouse is ergonomically designed on the right of the keyboard in front of the numerical pad, instead of integrating it into the wrist rest, which helps avoid incorrect inputs.
The 1U monitor/keyboard drawer supports both analog VGA standards and the new DVI. The 17" version offers an enhanced resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels, and an integrated mini-sound system also enables the generation of acoustic signals. It is available in either of the two-tone designs black/silver and RAL 7035/silver.
To enable access to up to eight different servers, the monitor/keyboard drawer can be combined with Rittal SSC view8 and a KVM switch (KVM: keyboard video mouse). Since the switch is installed behind the monitor/keyboard drawer it occupies no additional rack space.
