Microchip has released its first digital signal controller (DSC) in 6 x 6 mm, 28-pin, QFN package. This new packaging option for the dsPIC30F2010 offers high processing power in relation to its small footprint. The QFN package also offers efficient thermal characteristics for such small designs. A package designator of 'MMG' is used to denote this new QFN package.
The dsPIC30F2010 DSC is one of the company's expanding family of Flash-based, high-performance 16-bit microcontrollers with fully implemented DSP capability supporting a high processing throughput of up to 30 MIPS. The device features a comprehensive peripheral set, allowing designers to minimise component count. Its mixed-signal capabilities over a wide operating voltage (2,5 to 5,5 V), including low-voltage detection, bring advantages in many noisy operating environments.
The dsPIC30F2010 offers Enhanced Flash with self-programming capability, providing ease of development and supporting remote software upgrades.
Additional features include: 12 KB of Flash program memory, and 512 Bytes of SRAM; 1 KB of Data EEPROM; 10-bit, 500 k samples-per-second ADC with six channels; Advanced PWM capability; Serial Communications including Master I2C and SPI; and addressable USART.
All dsPIC DSCs are supported by Microchip's high performance development systems, including: MPLAB IDE, MPLAB C30 C Compiler, MPLAB ICD 2 In-Circuit Debugger, MPLAB Visual Device Initializer and MPLAB ICE 4000 In-Circuit Emulator.
