Low jitter clock generator

6 April 2005 DSP, Micros & Memory

The new MAX9476 is a cost-effective, low-jitter, high-performance clock generator with an 8 kHz reference-clock input, making it an ideal timing solution for ADSL/VDSL central-office linecards, T1/E1, T3/E3, and telecom network systems, claims Maxim, its manufacturer. The device uses a 35,328 MHz crystal and an 8 kHz input reference clock to generate six identical, buffered LVTTL outputs at 35,328 MHz, which are all synchronised with the 8 kHz input clock. The device has an integrated VCXO and can track the input reference by ±100 ppm. The MAX9476 also provides a low-jitter 8 kHz clock output that is used as a reference clock for other parts of the system. The MAX9476 is available in a 24-pin TSSOP package and operates from a single supply over -40 to +85°C.
