Clare's new member of its Litelink III Phone Line Interface IC family for direct access arrangements (DAAs) in telephony applications, the CPC5622A, features simultaneous phone line ringing detect and caller-ID (CID) monitoring. This greatly simplifies DAA designs. In addition, the CPC5622A offers both half-wave and full-wave ringing detect outputs to support most codec and DSP devices.
Telephony systems in specific countries around the world need to detect CID information before a ringing signal is transmitted, which in the past required additional discrete components. Internal CID and ringing detect circuitry on the CPC5622A eliminates the need for these components.
Litelink, which the company says is the world's only single IC package data access arrangement, has been used in numerous products from embedded modem applications to Internet telephony gateways and foreign exchange offices (FXOs). The internal optical barrier facilitates low noise and low distortion, while the increased 3000 V r.m.s. isolation barrier further enhances the surge robustness of Litelink-based OEM equipment.
The Litelink III offers a broad feature set including high-voltage isolation, proper AC and DC phone line terminations, 2-to-4 wire hybrid function, on-hook and off-hook detection, caller ID and ring detect circuitry.
