Dead-reckoning GPS modules claimed to be smallest

29 June 2005 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

Tyco Electronics has added dead-reckoning features on A1029A and A1029B GPS modules - claimed to be the world's smallest.

After initial implementation on the A1030 model - which besides dead reckoning, concurrently supports EGNOS/WAAS, data storage and more - both the A1029A and A1029B modules now also offer dead reckoning functionality. As a result, the two modules are able to determine an accurate position even without access to satellites, eg, in tunnels, by processing sensor data.

This development makes the A1029A the smallest dead reckoning module on the market, requiring the least number of external components for correct, continuous position calculation, according to Tyco Electronics.
