A fanless rugged industrial PC for in-vehicle computing applications has been launched by Digital-Logic of Switzerland. The Microspace-PCX48 (MPCX48) is housed in a compact metal case and IP50-protected.
The computer is based on the i855GME chip set and uses a 600 MHz or 1 GHz Intel Celeron M processor with up to 1 GB of DDRRAM main memory. The field of applications is almost unlimited due to new features (such as four USB V2.0 ports, three video-inputs, digital I/Os, pre-heating, and embeddable USB memory sticks) and also the possibility of using PC/104-Plus and MiniPCI to integrate additional features.
The MPCX48 is compatible with any standard Pentium PC and runs with all common operating systems, such as Windows XP, QNX and Linux. In combination with the possibility of factory-installed PC/104-Plus extensions (eg, Vector CAN Bus), the new computer is an ideal platform for development, testing and measurement applications in the automotive industry and for cost-effective fleet equipment from navigation to infotainment.
The MPCX48's dimensions are 190 x 160 x 66 mm (L x W x H), weighs 2,5 kg, and operates in the standard temperature range from -20°C to +60°C. It requires a supply voltage of 8 to 30 V d.c. (15 W).
