Company commits to long term VITA 41 VXS roadmap

8 February 2006 Computer/Embedded Technology

BittWare, a leading supplier of hybrid (DSP and FPGA) board-level solutions based on Analog Devices' SHARC and Altera's FPGA technology, has announced its commitment to a long term VITA 41 VXS roadmap.

The T2-6U-VME board, the most recent addition to the company's T2 family of TigerSHARC boards, also represents the first ever COTS VME/VXS board based on the ADSP-TS201. BittWare's VME roadmap currently in development includes two additional boards: a hybrid signal processing board based on Altera's Stratix II GX FPGA and Analog Devices' TigerSHARC processor, and a quad Stratix II GX board. These products are slated for release late 2006.

"BittWare recognises that VITA 41 VXS is the only stable, viable option for providing the military and commercial markets with an industrial or ruggedised COTS solution," stated Jeffry Milrod, CEO of BittWare. "Our 2006/2007 roadmap includes two additional VME boards which will take advantage of our embedded hybrid signal processing architecture, combining the high-end Altera Stratix II FPGAs with a high-performance signal processor."

The T2V6 is a 6U VME/VXS board featuring eight 600 MHz ADSP-TS201S TigerSHARC DSPs, two FPGAs, a PMC+ site, 512 MB of SDRAM, and flexible, high-throughput I/O interfaces via the front panel, VXS switch fabric, and 2eSST VME.

Designed for demanding multiprocessor-based operations, and targeted at a broad range of applications including radar, sonar, communications, and imaging, the T2V6 is available in both air-cooled and conduction-cooled versions and gives VME users full access to the power of the TigerSHARC, providing optimal solutions for demanding applications.

BittWare offers comprehensive software support for the T2V6. The BittWorks software tools provide host interface libraries and a wide variety of diagnostic utilities and configuration tools.
