Award-winning inspection system shown at Nepcon East
31 May 2006Manufacturing / Production Technology, Hardware & Services
Visitors to the DEK booth at the Nepcon East electronics manufacturing trade exhibition recently were shown why DEK's HawkEye post-print verification technology continues to gain widespread acceptance and win global industry accolades.
The HawkEye was displayed on board DEK's flexible Horizon 01i screen printing platform. This versatile system delivers high-speed performance - from high-mix to high-volume advanced assemblies, including 0201 and CSP packages. Equipped with the company's innovative Instinctiv user interface for user-friendly operator control, the Iscan control area network to support advanced features and an optimised frame for maximum mechanical and thermal stability, the Horizon 01i offers a 10 second cycle time, process capability of 2,0 Cpk @ ±25 μm, and a very low cost of ownership.
The HawkEye system has a unique inspection philosophy. Instead of relying on data-rich, quantitative inspection routines, it isolates errors through good/bad verification set against user-defined, pre-set thresholds. Streamed images, instead of successive still images, are analysed and any defective boards are identified and removed in realtime. With 100% post-print verification at the line beat rate and no programming required, DEK says that HawkEye delivers dramatic increases in throughput and end of the line yield with remarkable simplicity.
