The Wafer-Mark is one of the latest 3,5" single board computers (SBC) to be brought into the industrial PC market by IEI Technology. The Wafer-Mark processor integrates VIA's high-performance graphics controller, LCD and flat panel display interfaces with further superior performance between the CPU, RAM and PCI/ISA bus with pipelined, burst and concurrent operations. The Wafer-Mark chipset's life cycle has been guaranteed until at least 2010, which is an important factor to consider in future production, support of products and extending one's investment.
This SBC has complete PCI/ISA PC/104 support, protecting previous development and investment in PC/104 devices. With data security being an important role in today's technology, the SATA RAID 0 and RAID 1 storage technology provides RAID capability, enabling faster storage performance with data striping and protection against data loss from a hard drive failure by mirroring all data across multiple devices.
The Wafer-Mark provides dual LAN, two SATA, four USB and four digital I/O functions with a low power, fanless solution to expand one's application in more vertical markets. This SBC has a choice of either running at 533 MHz or 800 MHz while being able to use up to 512 MB SODIMM memory. The Wafer-Mark has on-board Compact Flash (CF), supporting type II Compact flash drives; it also has the ability to boot off the CF.
