The Eddy-1 Series is an embedded device server module from SystemBase. This small module easily integrates with one's hardware design, supporting RS232, 422, and 485 interfaces at 921,6 Kbps. It allows engineers to quickly and easily add network interface to their hardware design. Also, a user's application can be uploaded for maximised customisation.
According to the manufacturer, the Eddy-1 Pro Series is distinguished compared to other embedded device servers in that it can upload customised user applications and execute them. With this feature, a user can upload any socket/serial communication application that can run on standard Linux with no or little modification. This openness gives users a chance to apply a wide variety of operations on the device server with considerably less limitations.
To help programmers work on their own applications to run on the device server, a software development kit (SDK) and a cross-compile environment are available. With SDK and ready-to-run example codes, programmers can easily build up their own applications under the standard Linux environment.
Other features include: small size to fit in any hardware; 32-bit ARM9 168 MHz CPU/4 MB Flash/8 MB SDRAM; various interface options (DB9/pin header); 10/100 Mbps LAN port; COM port redirection.
