All-in-one industrial chassis with high computing and high extension capacity

24 January 2007 Computer/Embedded Technology

Advantech′s ATM-4233 is an all-in-one chassis for industrial automation platforms. It conveniently combines LCD display, keyboard, touch pad, function keys, cursor keys and OSD control in one unit. It provides a more cost-effective application when there is not much space for a normal IPC setup.

The ATM-4233 integrates a video A/D board to ensure CPU card compatibility up to Intel Pentium 4, Pentium M (Fanless) and Celeron CPU cards. The chassis has been tested with processors on Advantech's PCA-6187VE, PCA-6186VE and PCA-6184VE CPU cards.

The passive backplane offers 14 extension slots that can be used for ISA, PCI and CPU cards, and any combination of these. There are also two USB ports in front for connection to USB devices. Reliable power supply is assured due to the redundant ATX-standard power supply.

For custom macro instructions, the chassis has been equipped with five function keys on the left of the LCD. On the right, five cursor keys assist with moving quickly through menus and to change settings. An 88-key slim-type keyboard with touch pad is hidden in a pull-out drawer to save space. OSD control is conveniently placed in front to easily alter brightness and contrast. To prevent accidental shutdowns, the reset and power buttons are placed behind a lockable door.

The ATM-4233 is suitable for environmental monitoring and facility monitoring where the screen is not that commonly used, but where it is necessary for operators to take a quick check on equipment status. For example, in water or air quality measurement, the operator can connect quality sensors to ATM-4233, and easily read the status from the LCD screen.
