Wideband power amplifiers for broadband instrumentation, test and communications applications

24 January 2007 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

Hittie Microwave offers two MMIC-based connectorised power amplifier modules, ideal for broadband instrumentation, test equipment, and communications applications from 10 MHz to 15 GHz.

The HMC-C037 is a GaAs PHEMT MMIC, 0,5 W wideband power amplifier that operates from 10 MHz to 15 GHz and features an integrated heatsink and EMI-filtered DC terminals. The integrated heatsink allows for ease-of-use in a lab environment, since no heatsink has to be designed and specified. It typically delivers flat 12 dB gain up to 12 GHz, making this device ideal for broadband instrumentation, lab and test equipment applications, as the need for band-switching is eliminated. The HMC-C037 also provides up to +37 dBm output IP3 and up to +28 dBm of output power at 1 dB compression. Gain flatness is excellent at ±0,3 dB from 2 to 15 GHz, while the saturated output power is 0,5 W up to 15 GHz.

The HMC-C037 and the HMC-C036 have identical electrical specifications. The primary difference between the two devices is that the HMC-C037 is offered with an integrated heatsink, while the HMC-C036 is offered in a miniature, hermetic module allowing customers with wide-ranging system requirements the flexibility to specify their own mechanical interface.

Like the HMC-C037, the HMC-C036 is a GaAs PHEMT MMIC power amplifier with replaceable SMA connectors serving broadband instrumentation, test equipment and communications applications. The I/Os are internally matched to 50 Ω and are DC blocked. Both are specified for operation over 0 to 85°C.
