Cable assembly service

14 February 2001 Manufacturing / Production Technology, Hardware & Services

Connect-A-Way has an automated cable assembly line that is geared up to offer clients quality products with swift turnarounds. It says that this is irrespective of small or high volumes. The machinery entails solder baths for tinning and dipping, high-speed automatic crimping machines which average 8000-15 000 crimps per day (handling various terminals and lugs), automatic cable cutters (cuts UTP, flat ribbon, single core cable, heatshrink, etc), semi-automatic cable strippers (modular or similar OD), automatic cable cutter and stripper (single core), semi-automatic modular plug crimping machines (RJ49/RJ45).

All cables are tested on a PC-based cable tester, says Connect-A-Way, which ensures the most stringent quality control. The tester allocates a signature number, which in turn is logged in the cable register for future manufacture of the same cable. This signature and QC certificate is supplied with all tested cables.

Products include: flat ribbon cable assemblies (1,27 mm pitch to 0,635 mm), telephone line cords and curly cords, UTP/STP/FTP flyheads and patch leads, multicore Mylar patch leads and data cables, keyboard extension cables (101 or PS2), printer cables (serial, parallel and bidirectional), coaxial patch and flyleads, SCI-1/11/111 cables, etc. Special cables are also manufactured to customers' specifications.

The company has available automatic and semi-automatic tools including applicators for side and end feed, modular plug terminal depth gauges, as well as a range of these tools with spare parts.
