The HMC543 from Hittite Microwave Corporation is a 4-bit digital phase shifter offered in bare die form, which is suitable for EW (electronic warfare) receivers, radar, satellite communications and beam-forming subassemblies.
It is rated for operation from 8 to 12 GHz, while providing 0 to 36° of phase coverage with a resolution of 22,5°. The device provides a low RMS phase error of 5° and insertion loss variation of ±0,8 dB across all phase states. It is controlled with complementary logic of 0/-3 V, and requires no fixed bias voltage. Simple external level shifting circuitry can be used to convert a positive CMOS control voltage into complementary negative control signals. The HMC543 is suited for hybrid MIC and MCM assembly applications, while the HMC543LC4B is recommended for designs requiring a SMT RoHS compliant package.
