The ADAM-6500 and ADAM-6501 from Advantech are Ethernet-enabled controllers for industrial automation and control. They provide an environment to develop applications converting RS232/485 devices and/or equipment data to the Ethernet/Internet world with minimum effort. ADAM-6500 is a controller with Intel StrongARM processor, while ADAM-6501 utilises the Intel Xscale.
Both controllers have built-in Windows CE.NET to run embedded Ethernet applications, a built-in CompactFlash slot, and a built-in Flash disk for Win CE and user applications. The Windows CE.NET operating system allows users to run new programs produced in Microsoft embedded VC++. The Windows environment also includes a Web server to allow the designer to develop Web-enabled applications.
Communication speed is up to 115,2 Kbps, and automatic data flow control is possible in RS485 mode. The controllers can be DIN-rail or wall mounted, and a built-in real time clock and watchdog timer are standard.
