8-port RS232 universal PCI card

11 June 2008 Computer/Embedded Technology

Advantech's PCI-1620AU is an 8-port RS232 universal PCI communication card. With support for both 3,3 and 5 V systems, as well as plug-and-play, the card is easily installed, and it also features a UART with 128 Byte FIFO to avoid heavy loading of the host system.

With a large selection of accessories, the card can be fitted with various connectors such as DB25 or DB9, and there are also OPT8C and OPT8H for complex serial communication networks. Connecting with OPT8FP can enable connection with several RS422 devices.

The PCI-1620AU is suitable for a wide range of applications such as industrial monitoring, scada, POS, retail, medical, security, utilities monitoring and intelligent transportation systems.

The card is available for Windows 98/2000/ME/XP and Linux Kernel 2.4 and 2.6. Using the bundled ICOM Tools software, the user is able to test the PCI card's performance by analysing the port status, and easily configure the settings of the card. With full driver support, users can easily develop their own application programs.
