IDT has announced a new member of its family of central packet switches (CPS), with up to 10 4x ports of 10 G connectivity. The resulting increase in throughput provides system advantages in high-bandwidth-intensive applications ranging from 3.5G and 4G wireless infrastructures to next-generation enterprise storage and imaging applications. The Serial RapidIO-based switch also addresses the interconnect needs of embedded applications whose functionality is central to routing packets for distribution amongst DSPs, FPGAs or processors, other switches, or any other sRIO-based devices. The 80KSW0005 supports sRIO packet switching (including unicast, multicast and optional broadcast) from any of its 10 input ports to any of its 10 output ports and is pin-to-pin compatible with the existing IDT PPS family of devices.
