Maxim has introduced the MAX9938, said to be the industry’s smallest high-side current-sense amplifier, packaged in a 4-bump UCSP. Additionally, it integrates precision resistors to minimise total solution size, eliminating the need for external gain-setting resistors. Designed to operate from a 1,6 V to 28 V input-voltage range, it is ideally suited to smartphones, digital cameras, PDAs, MP3 players, notebook computers, and other battery-operated devices in which small size, low quiescent current and high accuracy are critical.
The MAX9938 features a low, ±0,5 mV VOS and 0,5% gain error, for a total error of less than 1%. It consumes only 1 μA of supply current and is offered in three voltage-gain versions (25 V/V, 50 V/V, and 100 V/V). It is available in 4-bump UCSP (1 x 1 x 0,6 mm) and 5-pin SOT23 packages. All versions are fully specified for operation from -40°C to +85°C.
