Texas Instruments has introduced two consumer electronics 1394 (Firewire) link layer and integrated physical layer devices for digitally interfacing advanced video applications. The TSB43EC42 and the TSB43EA42 provide a high level of security and quality of service (QoS) for home networking in set-top boxes, digital televisions and Blu-ray recorders. The TSB43EC42 adds AES-128 encryption to the transport stream interface, which provides robust protection by keeping content encrypted at all times. This eliminates the need for additional physical content protection on the printed circuit board and can simplify board layout. Both devices’ integrated 1394a two-port PHY operate at 100 Mbps, 200 Mbps or 400 Mbps and are fully compliant with the IEEE Std. 1394-1995 and IEEE Std. 1394a-2000.
