IO-Link Masters from Balluff make the intelligence built into sensors and actuators available to the control level.
The sensor specialist and connectivity provider now offers a new, space-saving version of its IO-Link distribution box for Profibus. The slim and rugged zinc die-cast housing measuring 224 x 37 x 32 mm is equipped with large LED indicator lights to indicate various statuses.
The IP67 protected distribution box is an ideal solution for applications in tight mounting spaces and where dust, water, oils or even mechanical loads are present. With its M12 connection technology, it is suitable for a variety of uses including connection of sensor hubs, control panels or actuators such as valve terminal units. The module is available with two or four IO-Link terminals; in combination with IO-Link sensor hubs, this means that up to 68 sensors can be connected. Unused IO-Link ports can be used as standard inputs or outputs.
With the IO-Link Masters, it makes no difference whether the signals from measuring or binary sensors are sent to the machine controller or setup parameters need to be sent to the devices. The entire data exchange with the control level takes place over a single, 3-conductor standard cable. No additional cables, shielded special cables or different types of interface boxes are required.
