Bluegiga has released its new WT21 Bluetooth module. Incorporating CSR’s Bluecore6 chipset and supporting the Bluetooth 2.1 specification with enhanced data rates, the module offers users the latest Bluetooth features such as simple pairing and Enhanced Inquiry Response.
The module is intended for applications where a host processor is capable of running the Bluetooth software stack. The WT21 only implements the low level Bluetooth host controller interface (HCI) but offers advantages of a module – easy implementation and certifications. It also has built-in AudiStream technology, which improves the quality of voice in audio applications.
The WT21 supports any Bluetooth software stack that implements the standard Bluetooth HCI interface. The software stack can interface to the module either via UART, SDIO or SPI interface. It is targeted at OEMs who do not want to spend the time and money gaining RF regulatory approvals and designing a complex 2,4 GHz radio product.
Applications targeted by the new module include point-of-sale systems, bar code and RFID scanners, data transfer systems, and PDAs and PCs.
