SENA Technologies has announced the release of the new LTC100 serial converter which converts RS232 signals to RS422 or RS485 and vice versa.
The LTC100 lets users take advantage of RS422 or RS485 on systems originally equipped with RS232 without changing any hardware or software of the legacy systems. It does not require any software driver installation, and RS422/RS485 mode can be selected simply via a slide switch. RS422 mode supports up to 10 devices to be connected together and RS485 mode supports up to 32 devices.
Maximum communication distance issupported up to 1,2 km and maximum serial speed is 921,6 Kbps. The LTC100 is fully compatible with a PC’s serial COM port and operates without an external power supply, although an optional external DC power supply is also available.
Built-in surge protection up to 15 kV is built in, and the device’s communication status can be monitored by LEDs. RTS auto toggling is also supported.
