Vishay has introduced the new E102Z ultra-high-precision Bulk Metal Z-Foil resistor. The new device provides a military-grade absolute TCR of ±0,2 ppm/°C from -55°C to +125°C, +25°C reference, a tolerance from ±0,005% (50 ppm), and a load-life stability of ±0,005% (50 ppm) at +70°C for 2000 hours at rated power.
The E102Z is built to handle unconventional environmental conditions with minimal drift, making it well suited for military, space and medical applications according to EEE-INST-002 specifications and MIL-PRF 55182. With the new resistor, resistance values as high as 250 k can be achieved in a single device, while maintaining the lead spacing and long-term stability of the lower-range Z201 resistor. Within a resistance range of 100 k to 250 k, any value is available through calibration at no additional cost or lead time effect.
The E102Z has a thermal stabilisation time of less than 1 second, and a 1,0 ns rise time with effectively no ringing. It withstands electrostatic discharges up to 25 kV and is available with lead-free or tin/lead alloy terminations.
Typical applications include DC-DC converters, feedback circuits, and precision amplifiers in test and measurement instrumentation; medical and automatic test equipment; satellites, aerospace, and weapons systems; commercial and military avionics; down-hole equipment and instrumentation; and weigh scales.
