New from Sena Technologies is the Parani-BCD100, a Bluetooth v2.0+EDR Class 1 OEM module. OEM manufacturers can build their own antenna circuit around the BCD100 to lower the overall cost while benefitting from the module’s standard SPP (serial port profile) firmware.
The BCD100 supports Class 1 Bluetooth transmission levels to communicate over distances ranging from 100 m up to 1 km. It supports UART, USB, I C, PCM and PIO interfaces for communication with OEM products. The SPP firmware supports up to four simultaneous connections and is designed to work out-of-box for real world SPP applications such as POS (point-of-sales), industrial automation, remote metering and others. Optionally, the BCD100 can be supplied with a software stack up to HCI level so that the entire Bluetooth stack runs on the host side, suitable for applications such as USB dongles for computers. Alternatively, OEM manufacturers can develop and embed their own firmware into the module.
The module exhibits transmit power of +18 dBm and receive sensitivity of
-90 dBm (0,1% BER). It measures 27,1 x 14,8 x 2,4 mm and operates over the temperature range from -20°C to +80°C. An 8 Mbit Flash memory is integrated onboard.
