Modular concept applied to IPCs

23 June 2010 Computer/Embedded Technology

With its Valueline product range, Phoenix Contact is offering a modular concept for process visualisation, robotics and industrial automation, based on powerful, maintenance-friendly industrial PCs.

The industrial PC base unit can also be configured as a classic panel PC with a display and various mounting options. It can be used at ambient temperatures of up to

55°C. To expand the range of functions – such as the integration of a security function in the form of an FL MGUARD PCI router – both the base unit and the panel PC can be expanded by two PCI slots. Complex processes can be visualised on the TFT touch screen displays with sizes from 12” to 24”.

The IPCs are based on a cooling concept without fan. Combined with various processors from Intel Atom 1,6 GHz, Celeron 1,01 GHz, up to Core2Duo 1,5 GHz CPU, they can be used in demanding and energy-efficient areas. Their service-friendly design allows simple access to important components, such as the interchangeable hard disk or the CMOS battery. A modular production technique facilitates fast delivery times, even for customised configurations.
