The ED series of Ethernet extenders from EtherWAN Systems enables extended Ethernet transmissions over long distances using existing cabling.
For long-distance applications where fibre-optics are not feasible or too costly, the ED3011 extends 10/100 Ethernet up to 6,2 km using existing straight 2-pair copper wire, eliminating the need to pull extra cabling. It is suitable for installation where systems have been upgraded from slower serial communications to Ethernet networking. Users can select a fixed data rate for the copper line ranging from 192 Kbps to 10,8 Mbps when the bandwidth is available.
Also within the EtherWAN extender series are units for coaxial cable that extend IP services beyond the 100 m Ethernet limitation without changing cables, working with the current infrastructure telephone lines or coaxial cables. 10/100Base-T Ethernet circuits can be extended over 200 m at up to 85 Mbps and up to 2,6 km at 1 Mbps.
