Legrand launches Viking 3

Legrand has launched a new range of Viking 3 terminal blocks which form the core of a reliable and easy to use connection system in wiring installations.

These newly designed V2 polyamide terminal blocks, with screw or automatic spring connection, are enhanced by Legrand’s CAB 3 marking system and Starfix ferrules and crimping tools. The shaped entry to the terminal acts as a guide for the conductor, facilitating ideal positioning for a quality connection. The cable is reliably and safely clamped in the terminal by constant contact pressure of the clamp/bar system.

These new screw and automatic spring devices feature screwless fixing of end stops, automatic insertion of a bridging comb up to a pitch of 8,2 areas thus allowing pitch jumps and 12/48 V or 110/250 V blown fuse indicators that can be added at the last moment of installation.

Viking 3 screw connection terminal blocks can accommodate cross sections of flexible wire between 0,25 mm² and 70 mm² and between 0,25 mm² and 95 mm² of rigid wire. New features include an optimised size with an identical height for blocks between 16 mm² and 70 mm², simplified fixing and standardised end caps. For easy identification and accurate installation, these terminal blocks are colour coded. For connecting, grey units are used for standard circuit, blue for a neutral conductor, orange for a circuit that is not broken by the master isolating device and red for special circuits. Connecting options include one connection – one entry/one outlet, one connection – two entries/two outlets, two connections on two levels or three connections on three levels. For a protection conductor, green and yellow units are designed for screwless fixing on a rail.

Terminal blocks with an automatic stainless steel spring connection are used to make the electrical connection between two rigid or flexible copper wires, with or without ferrules. This screwless connection system accommodates cross sections of wire between 0,5 mm² and 16 mm². For a flexible wire with no ferrule, the spring is easily opened using a screwdriver, which is also used for disconnection. Inclined cable entries ensure efficient management of wires.

Colour coded options include one connection – two wires – one entry/one outlet, one connection – three wires – one entry/two outlets, one connection – four wires – two entries/two outlets and two connections – four wires – two levels. Green and yellow terminal blocks are designed for screwless fixing on the rail of the protection conductor.

This system allows intervention for measurements or maintenance on a current, voltage and power measuring circuit, by keeping the current transformer secondary circuit closed. Insulated bridging bars and combs have integral test sockets and identification rings for quick and easy testing.

Accessories include end stops and brackets for mounting; marking holders and plates; polyamide insulation barriers, safety screens and protective covers; measurement and testing plugs and sockets; as well as connection bridging combs, bars and brackets. Specially designed measurement accessories are also available.

Viking 3 terminal blocks comply with local and international quality and safety specifications, including RoHS requirements, international approvals for ATEX certification and stringent IEC standards.
