More and more companies are finding that the flexible nature of their business does not allow them to be able to make a significant investment in fixed IT infrastructure. The reality is that the business needs shift and business premises are often of a temporary nature. The outcome often results in compromises in what is required for the IT infrastructure in terms of security, cooling, backup power, fire detection/prevention, access control, monitoring and energy efficiency.
The Rittal Datacentre Container is specially designed for the mobile outdoor use of IT equipment, and is an energy efficient and fast solution to house servers and 19” racks. It is particularly suitable as an interim data centre for companies that rebuild or extend their building. Since there are no outer air-con elements (eg, chillers), the RDC also provides high sabotage/burglary protection. With a durability of several decades, the Rittal Datacenter Container can also be used as a permanent main and/or backup data centre.
The standardised RDC includes six 42 U heavy-duty Rittal racks, modular UPS, fire extinguishing with pressure release, access control, heavy-duty raised floor, plug-and-play power distribution, pluggable PDUs within the racks and remote monitoring. The air-conditioning system allows ‘free cooling’ with an ambient temperature of less than 20°C. The system is highly efficient with a PUE of between 1,2 and 1,35 (depending on the geographical location).
