Fibre-optic PoE switch

15 September 2010 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

Advantech has introduced the EKI-2525SPI, a single-mode fibre-optic industrial PoE (Power over Ethernet) switch. The module not only features four PoE ports, but also includes a fast fibre-optic connection with redundant power inputs.

The device is rugged with a wide operating temperature range from -40°C to 75°C allowing it to operate reliably even in extreme environments. It also offers a 48 V d.c. redundant power input design and is secured with a double protection mechanism: power polarity reverse and an overload current resettable fuse. Furthermore, the EKI-2525SPI comes with a compact metal housing and IP30 rating to help protect against the dust and dirt common to industrial environments.

The switch provides up to 15,4 W of power per port and can be used to power IEEE802.3af compliant powered devices (PD) through an Ethernet cable, eliminating the need for additional wiring.
