Code-hopping UHF transceiver

24 November 2010 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

Radiometrix has introduced a UHF narrowband transceiver specifically suited for power-constrained applications. Offered with a basic antenna included, the KDEC code-hopping receiver provides the user with a complete, ready to use receiver interface, enabling quick and easy deployment of a secure RF remote control system.

This remote control system uses ever changing 32-bit encrypted hop-code which is encrypted using 64-bit manufacturer code and 28-bit serial number for security. The decoder has a standard frequency of 433,92 MHz, though other frequencies can be offered on request. It is optimised for use with the company’s KFX2 key-fob transmitters or KTX2 transmitter modules. If combined with either of these products, no additional parts are needed to create a wireless system suitable for high security remote control. The erasable secure learn function allows up to 16 different transmitters to be remembered.

When optimised for the 5-button KFX2 transmitter, it is not possible to activate more than one output per transmission and all five of the KDEC’s 250 V 8 A relay outputs can be individually activated. Alternatively, when optimised for use with the KTX2, the KDEC has simple output functionality. New function codes are fed to the relays as they are received. For both versions, momentary/latched relay action is also selected by means of a jumper link on the PCB. LED-based visual indicators show which relays are in operation.

The receiver is powered by a 9–16 V d.c. supply. It is suitable for applications such as security/alarm systems, status reporting/monitoring secure systems, industrial controls, HVAC controls, wireless door entry systems and simple on/off switching mechanisms.
