GSM/GPRS modules and modem terminal

13 April 2011 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

The LEON-G100 and G200 modem modules from u-blox are cost-efficient solutions bringing full-feature, quad band GSM/GPRS data and voice transmission technology in a compact form factor.

Featuring low power consumption and GSM/GPRS class 10 data transmission with voice capability, they combine baseband, RF transceiver, power management unit and power amplifier in a single, easy-to-integrate module.

The modules are complete, fully qualified and certified solutions optimised to work with u-blox’s GPS receivers to support mass-market, location-aware applications requiring mobile connectivity such as asset tracking, fleet management, road pricing, vehicle recovery and mobile emergency services such as eCall. They are also suitable for use in machine-to-machine telemetry systems for automatic meter reading (AMR), remote monitoring automation and control (RMAC), surveillance and security, anti-theft systems and point-of-sales (PoS) terminals.

LEON-G100 and LEON G-200 have been certified by the FCC, IC, PTCRB and R&TTE. LEON has also demonstrated compliance with the Global Certification Forum (GCF) requirements.

GT-100 modem terminal

The GT-100 is a quad band 850/900/1800/1900 GSM/GPRS modem terminal locally designed and manufactured by RF Design. Powered by the u-blox LEON-G100, the terminal is a highly flexible, plug-and-play device featuring data, SMS, voice and fax, and can be powered from either a USB port or a wide range power input from 10,8–31,2 V d.c.

The dual SIM card is selectable via AT command over an RS232 or USB interface. The 8 x 5 x 2 mm GT-100 provides a 6-pin Microfit audio interface and a female SMA RF connector. Optional accessories include a GSM antenna, Microfit to RS232 DB9 female cable, Microfit to AUX/audio cable, USB to mini USB cable and a power supply. There are also various USB drivers available for download.
