Broadband gain blocks

13 April 2011 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

The AVT-55689 and AVT-54689 from Avago Technologies are high-linearity gain block amplifiers featuring low current consumption and robust electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection, housed in an industry standard SOT-89 package.

The devices operate in frequency bands from DC to 6000 MHz. Their extended broadband performance makes them ideal for cellular and WiMAX wireless base stations, satellite and cable TV set-top boxes, military equipment and a variety of other wireless applications operating in this broad frequency range.

The gain blocks leverage an Indium Gallium Phosphate (InGaP) hetero-junction bipolar transistor (HBT) process to achieve state-of-the-art reliability, temperature stability and performance consistency. The devices are each internally matched to 50 Ω, eliminating the need for additional radio frequency (RF) matching components.

At the typical operating condition of 5 V and 83 mA, the AVT-55689 delivers performance of 17,2 dB Gain, 33,0 dBm output third order intercept point (OIP3), 19,4 dBm output power at 1 dB gain compression (P1dB) and 4,4 dB noise figure at 2000 MHz. At the typical operating condition of 5 V and 60 mA, the AVT-54689 boasts 17,4 dB gain, 30,0 dBm OIP3, 17,7 dBm P1dB and 4,0 dB noise figure at 2000 MHz.
