DC link capacitors

11 May 2011 Passive Components

Spectrum has developed a new range of high-reliability DC link capacitors for power inverter applications which require long life expectancy under harsh operating conditions, such as those found in wind and photovoltaic installations.

The products feature a segmented, self-healing metallised polypropylene construction for life expectancy exceeding 100 000 hours. Their high capacitance density and ripple current capabilities make them suitable as replacements for electrolytic capacitors. Capacitance ranges from 160 μF to 680 μF standard (others available upon request) with standard tolerance of ±10% at rated voltages between 900 and 1300 V d.c. The capacitors are tested to the environmental specifications of MIL-STD-202 and can endure operating temperatures in the range of -55°C to +85°C standard (+105°C upon special request).
