Supertex introduced the MD2131, a high-speed, arbitrary waveform push-pull source driver designed for use in diagnostic medical and high-intensity, focused ultrasound (HIFU) applications. The IC can also be used in non-destructive image evaluation, metal flaw detection, sonar phase arrays and piezoelectric transducer waveform drivers. It consists of CMOS digital logic inputs, an 8-bit DAC and a high-speed serial peripheral interface. The output stage of the IC is designed to be the source driver for the Supertex DN2625, a depletion-mode, N-channel, 250 V MOSFET. The chipset provides highly accurate beamforming and focus scanning for diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound applications.
