Digital signage players

21 March 2012 Computer/Embedded Technology

The saying goes that a picture is worth a thousand words, but a moving video with sound makes a much bigger impression and draws the crowd. This can be attested by anyone who has noticed how many people will stop and stare at a TV screen or display in a shop or mall displaying video images of products.

By adding touch screen input to provide customer interaction, a system becomes a powerful sales tool that can work 24/7. The same sales information can also be distributed via GSM, wirelessly or by LAN to multiple display points, thus increasing coverage.

Displays can be mounted in-store, in malls, in secure areas and even in vehicles such as busses and taxis to spread the message far afield. Busses, taxis and areas such as airport waiting areas provide a captive audience that will almost automatically watch the display just to pass the time and out of boredom.

High-quality graphics are very important in choosing a system. Also, the possibility to drive multiple displays from the same controller makes the system more cost effective. Digital signage players and displays are one of the most effective marketing tools available. The possibilities for their use include advertising, information systems, entertainment and more.

Centurion Micro Electronics can provide several options for display controllers, displays and other related equipment such as wireless connectivity.
