Embedded touch screens

4 April 2012 Computer/Embedded Technology

VIA Technologies announced the VIA VID series of industrial-class touch screen displays designed for a range of modern interactive kiosk, POI and POS embedded systems.

The displays are available in both ruggedised and open-frame configurations. All ruggedised configurations feature IP65 water resistance and operating temperatures of

-10°C to 70°C, ideal for harsh industrial environments. VID displays feature a robust aluminium chassis, available in a range of colours.

Supporting SXGA mode display resolutions of up to 1280 x 1024 pixels, the displays feature the latest in bright LED backlight technology with a range of 7” to 19” TFT LCD panels, screen brightness of up to 600 cd/m² and wide viewing angles of up to 178°. A 5-wire USB-based resistive touch interface offers excellent responsiveness for interactive display applications.

All VID displays support both HDMI and 15-pin D-Sub VGA ports and additional mounting options for hard drive and Wi-Fi modules. They feature 75 mm and 100 mm VESA mounting support for easy and flexible device installation as well as dedicated support for optimised integration with VIA EITX-3001 based systems and VIA AMOS 3001 box PC products. The displays also offer an onscreen display panel that includes keys for source selection, menu and LED and power buttons.
